Temple of Thousand Pillars

The Ramanathaswamy Jyotirlinga Temple is a very famous Hindu temple built in the 12th century ,dedicated to lord Shiva in the island of Rameswaram. The temple has the longest corridors among all Hindu temples in India .Rameswaram is considered as a very holy place by all Hindus .According to legends Rameswaram is the place where Lord Rama built a bridge across the sea to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita from the clutches of Ravana the demon king who kidnapped her.
