Watch Out

If you are a lone traveler getting a room in any of the hotels is close to impossible .The reason being that Kanyakumari is popular suicide spot .I had a tough time getting a room , I was turned away from all the nice hotels and finally got a room at a really run down place after the owner spoke to my dad over phone .

Padmanabhapuram Palace which is half way between Trivandrum and Kanyakumari (50 Km)
Varkala is a amazing place to visit , its very close to trivandrum and has a really nice beach and a Goa like atmosphere (I will be doing a post on Varkala pretty soon)

Kanaykumari did not live up to my expectations after all the hype I ve heard and the several blogs and articles I have read about the place but its worth visiting if you are hitting Trivandrum or Madurai on you trip. There are 2 islands off the beach and one has the Thiruvalluvar Statue and the other has the Vivekananda memorial . Vattakottai Fort was a big disappointment though I have heard that the Padmanabhapuram Palace is beautiful but did not get a chance to visit .
